Epithesis

Maxillofacial silicone epithesis

Epitheses with or without implants are used when plastic surgery cannot or does not consider it appropriate to intervene.

Most head deformities are direct consequences of illness and tumors, accidents or inborn malformations.

Defects that cannot be reconstructed from the body’s own tissues can be artificially reconstructed using epitheses.

The epithesis will be made individually with hard or soft medical grade silicones in combination with the patient’s natural skin color.

In some cases, a 3D surface scanner is used to model the provisional epithesis.

(6) The fixation of the epithesis will depend above all on the anatomical site to be reconstructed and can be carried out both with titanium implants or with biological glue.

A medical grade silicone rubber is used to create a facial epithesis for the ears, eyes or nose. Typically, the manufacture of these devices requires a series of accessories adapted to the facial characteristics of each person.

The epithesis allows one or more parts of the face to be temporarily or permanently replaced.

Dental techniques combined with the often difficult exercise of designing silicone facial prostheses are an asset in the possibilities of good aesthetic achievement.

Our company models and manufactures epitheses using 3D to be placed on conventional implants or with biocompatible glues.

The laboratory is a place of design and study, it allows the patient to participate in the manufacture of their future epithesis and to make the most of this foreign body.

Mainly known from plastic surgery, silicone has become the most important material, it is no longer possible to imagine orthopedic technology without it, especially when it comes to aesthetic needs.

Deceptively real, the connection with the human body seems almost invisible and can ease the pain of trauma patients in psychological and physiological terms.
